Digital Marketing – DIY Photography Basics
You no longer need to take a class to turn on a camera. They are everywhere, and the best camera is the one that is with you…your cell phone! This article will cover the basics of creating a great image for your website, to post on social media, or wherever else you would like to express your ideas. Composition, stabilization and lighting, can help you create amazing photos for your marketing campaigns.
Composition will depend on the purpose of the photo. If you are trying to advertise a product, remove anything that distracts from that product (no background, no “props”). But if you are trying to tell a story about your product, add a scene to show viewers how to use the product.
Next is Stabilization. Nobody likes a blurry image. So that means you need to keep your camera and your subject still. Use a tripod when at all possible. If you do not have a tripod, put your camera or cell phone on a stack of books. If you have a nice DSLR camera, you can also use tension on the neck strap to help keep the camera still.
Lighting is everything. The wrong lighting can create shadows or flatten your image. Natural lighting is the best. But if you don’t have natural lighting, you can use white card stock to help balance the light around your subject.
Composition, Stabilization, and Lighting are the Three Keys that will help you make your photos pop!
