8 Trusty Tips for Twitter

Having trouble getting started when it comes to the Twitterverse? This once 40 and now 280-character platform is used to get to the point quickly and loudly with words, images, and videos. Below are some quick tips to understand how to make your tweets count.

  1. Tweet daily: Really, this goes for any social media account you may use. If you don’t look active, you’ll lose followers.
  2. Make a connection: Social Media is about making a connection to your audience, making your business and you seem more personable and likeable. Interact, retweet things that are relevant, show off the ‘personality’ of the brand you’re trying to bolster or create. Not only will you be establishing your brand, you’ll learn what your customers are looking for.
  3. Make sure what you share is relevant: If you’re sharing an article, read it first to make sure it fits and isn’t just promoting a certain service. If it fits, make sure it’s helpful and/or entertaining.
  4. Hashtags, hashtags, hashtags: Use as many hashtags as possible to get your tweets to the right people. However, don’t use too many, they shouldn’t be the obvious only reason for the tweet.
  5. Build partnerships: Follow people with more followers, and follow relevant businesses and brands to retweet from and interact with.
  6. Promote specific products and services: If there are sales and discounts, mention them.
  7. Reward followers: If you’re giving away something for free, mention that too!
  8. Don’t be afraid to repost: The nature of Twitter makes it hard to be seen, as posts don’t show up in chronological order anymore, and they quickly disappear as more tweets are created. So don’t be afraid to reiterate; it’s most likely that you’ll always reach a few people who didn’t see what you’re saying before.
